We often get requests for custom built doors. Some are fairly simple like a pantry door, but others are far more complex. We’ve had requests from people who own brand new homes that want a feature door to lend some character.

These are doors we’ve built as examples of the many designs we’ve been called to build.

One of the most interesting request we have had is to build a door on a hall entry closet that would be open to breathe because they were going to use it for a doggie kennel. They also wanted it to camouflage the space by making it look like a wine storage. And, they wanted it to be built of weathered wood. So, here are some pictures of what we’ve built.

Another request was a bit more challenging. This family had a brand new home where their laundry room door was intrusive into their space. They asked us to build a double door that would open out instead of in. they also wanted it to be like a European antique style. since it had two sides visible, we had to duplicate the look on both sides of the door.

Another request was from a person who had an antique door that was severely water damaged. So, she asked if we could rebuild the door. The original had a beautiful beveled glass insert and some really nice decorative moldings. For her new space, it also had to be a couple of inches wider. So, we recreated the door to the best of our ability. I removed the moldings off of the original door and added some more new moldings to the door.

We received a call from someone who wanted to remove his original double doors and replace them with a single door. It was a brand new house so I asked if he couldn’t just ask their builder to replace it with one that matches their doors. It seemed pretty simple to me. But he would have it no other way but for us to build him a custom door! We talked a lot about not matching the door so it would be feature piece. We came up with this door.
