My friend contacted me about an heirloom buffet. She said it was her grandmother’s and she really wanted to keep the memory of her. She said I could do anything I wanted even if it just became a door to hang on the wall.
This gave me full permission to just go with it! So, I completely disassembled the entire piece. Every door, leg, panel and piece of wood came apart. I then took inventory the salvageable pieces to begin some kind of rebuild.
Much to my surprise, I was able to just shrink it down and recreate the same look only much a much smaller version. I used the front doors as ends to the finished product. I moved some molding around, cut the top to a more narrow piece. I then had to cut the drawer down to fit the smaller template.
In the end, I was thrilled! This has become one of my favorite pieces I’ve done. The length, height, and depth was just right for a sofa table.
