Book Letters

In 2018, Larry and I discovered some block letters made from old Readers Digest books. We found them to be super cute and likely something others may want to buy.

So, we got some and I began to read up on different methods of cutting these books. I saw everything from jig saws, scroll saws and many others, that people were using to create these letters.

I found a small band saw that was on sale so I bought it for this new endeavor. I drew up some patterns to use for the design. When I began to cut the books I found that the new saw worked pretty well. But there was a problem. I realized it was just too small to continue cutting these 2′ blocks of paper and covers.

We decided to invest in a larger band saw. What a difference that made! So, I began cutting and selling these cute block letters.

When Larry retired, he took over the book cutting project. He used his vinyl cutter to make new patterns. He began experimenting with other designs like the “LOVE” sign, “ampersand” blocks, and some other super cool things like butterflies and bees.
