Remake of an entire house full of cabinets!

We were contacted to give a quote for a kitchen cabinet repainting job. When we went to the customer’s home we engaged in a conversation about her project. She had lots of ideas and was willing to listen to our input.

In her goals was removing a wall and an entire section of cabinets surrounding her refrigerator. She wanted to reuse them in a different location in the kitchen. She also wanted a coffee bar. So, as we talked, and looked at her existing kitchen it became evident that reusing the cabinets wasn’t practical considering her space and her goals. So she agreed that some new cabinets needed to be built to accomplish the project.

We agreed upon a color, white with a gray glaze. We helped her select wall colors for her main living area including the kitchen. We also suggested that we refinish the fireplace mantle to match the cabinets in the adjoining room.

The job included the kitchen, laundry, guest bath, and the main bath. Her kitchen had several drawers that had glass fronts on a small compartment at the front of the drawer. There were also glass doors on some upper cabinets requiring the insides to be painted. We chose to paint the insides of these spaces black to give them a rich depth.

We proceeded with the job. Along the way we developed a rich connection with her and her husband, which is commonly the case since we spent many hours and days in her home chatting and sharing lives along the way.

Her project was extended because she had many struggles finding sub-contractors to do the work. She had a painter scheduled for months. When the time came for the job, the contractor bowed out! But, after many months of design planning and work she finally got the job done.

Her comments about our work:

“John and Larry transformed my cabinets throughout my home. Never imagined they could turn out so gorgeous!!!”
