A friend who lives in Memphis asked me if we could build her a coat rack with a bench for her daughter for Christmas. She had tried to get one and the one she liked was out of stock. She said she really wanted us to build her one. Of course this would also mean we’d have to take a trip to Memphis to deliver it, 6 hours away from us. We checked on shipping but the estimate we got would have been $800!!!

In the process she said if possible she’d like it to be stained dark walnut. This would mean we’d have to buy totally different wood that was attractive with a stain on it. So, taking into consideration the picture she sent us of the original piece she wanted, we designed the project with that in mind.
