About John

I was born in 1954, to Norman J Smid and Vera B. Banister-Smid. I have two older sisters. I also have one younger sister and brother born to my mother and her second husband.
Our family lived in Denver, Colorado when I was born.  Due to my parents having marital difficulties, my sisters and I moved to Breda Iowa in 1957 to live with our Aunts and Uncles and their families. After about 9 months, my dad, mom, sisters and I moved to Omaha, NE. My parents divorced when I was 10 years old. My mother remarried in 1966.

I married Kris in 1973 and we had two daughters, Alysha and Amanda. I divorced in 1979. In 1988 I married Vileen. We had no children, were married 24 years and divorced in 2013. In 2013 I married my husband, Larry. Through my daughters I have four grandchildren, Devin, Dominic, Delaney and Donovan.

I love my family, I love cars and I love creating beauty. Through the pages of this website you will find a collection of all three.

My Life Story

During the summer of 2012, I sat on the side porch of my house with my laptop and typed day after day, writing out my life story with as much detail as I could remember.

Since I’ve loved cars my entire life I realized that it was cars, or a car, that brought most of my memories back to life for me.

So, I decided to reveal my life through the cars in it.
