This week was a little bit of a roller coaster ride.
We were originally scheduled to close on our house here in Texas on April 19th. As the day came, we discovered that the buyer’s house in California had a closing delay. So, our closing was rescheduled for April 28th. Then they moved it back to the 25th. Then we found out that the bank was holding his money for 7 days. So, our closing was rescheduled for April 28th.
As that day approached, we heard that the buyer’s loan company was missing a document so the closing was further delayed until possibly Monday, May 2nd.
All of this has postponed our closing on the land in Pearcy AR. We hope to close on that on May 3rd, 4th or 5th.
The Sub-contractors in Arkansas
Due to all of the delays, I made phone calls on Friday to talk about the schedules and potential delays:
- The land and tree development company, Gross Construction
- The electrical and plumbing installer, Russ Urbin
- The septic system installer, Thorntons Dozer Company
- The constructor for building the shop, Tilco Construction
I am very thankful for all of these workers! Each one has been SUPER to deal with:, friendly, accommodating, timely, and professional. I look forward to working with them on our project!
Once we get an official time to close on our land, it is our plan to travel to Hot Springs, with our camper, prepared to stay for a couple of days. During this time we’ll obtain an actual address for our property. We also plan on watching the dirt and trees being removed in order to build our driveway and pads for the house, the shop and the potential cabin site. That will be really fun to see our plans start to take shape.
Finishing up Our Projects
A little over a week ago, we finished a kitchen painting job. Right after that we began another kitchen repainting job. We finished that on Thursday. Now today, we are going to begin our final kitchen painting job here in Texas! Due to our closings and trip to Hot Springs, we will not be able to finish that job this week. One gray with a pantry door we built, and one white with a gray glaze. check!
Closed Our Mall Space
Saturday, we completely moved out of our space at the Powderly Antique Mall. Thankfully we only had about two boxes of items left and our empty book shelves that we will take with us to Arkansas. A bittersweet moment, for sure.
Junk!
We are beginning to search out things we will NOT want to take with us. In our shop, we have collected wood, table tops, doors, and other things that we’ve held on to, thinking we may be able to use those “some day.” Well, the day has come! Out they go! We took one whole load to the dumpster today. There is more to take care of.
This coming week has not been written yet. We are literally taking each day as it comes because we cannot plan anything until all of the paperwork is signed and the money has changed hands. So, stay tuned!
