Yesterday I was walking into the house through the garage and something profoundly moving hit me. We are going to leave this house. That was the door I walked through when I first came to Larry’s home. That door is very significant to me for many reasons, but one special reason. It’s the door I walked through to find a deep and unconditional love that had been so rare in my life.
Through the many seasons and relationships I’ve had through the years, I felt loved for sure. But this time, it was clearly unconditional. Something brought me to exhale all those years of conditions, expectations, roles, and fear of rejection I’d felt for most of my life. I inhaled, peace, acceptance, freedom, and safety.
Now, for 9 years, the unconditional love that I’ve received from Larry has not only remained, but it’s grown. I feel absolutely no pressure to perform, to accommodate, to change anything about myself with Larry. He just smiles with acceptance of who I am.
So, leaving this home will have some sadness in that I will never walk through that door again into Larry’s presence. And yet, I understand that I’m taking all of that love with me wherever I go. However I do wonder how the love that we share will manifest in a new place, a brand new place for us to live?

This week, we are working on ordering our house. We finalized all of the custom features we are adding to the standard floorpan and decor of the house. We are so excited about this house. Everything we are designing has one purpose in mind – connecting with others. We’ve planned it for entertaining groups. The plan has a large foyer for receiving people. We arranged a large dining room for meals together with friends. The kitchen and pantry are incredibly designed for cooking and gathering around a center island. The living room has a beautiful stone fireplace and warm beams for a comfortable place to sit and share lives. We will have a great guest bedroom and bathroom for overnight friends and family. We’ve added several extra, large, windows for looking outside at the beautiful trees and allowing as much light into the house as possible.
This coming week, we plan to meet with the dirt movers and tree removers who will clear the ground for installing the house and our shop building. We will also meet with the plumbers, electricians, and septic installers to arrange just how and where those buildings will be located on our property.
We have a large list of contractors we are developing that will make it all possible! Each one we’ve been in touch with has been very friendly and accommodating. We are so thankful for that.
We’ll see what this next week brings!
