After owning and taking care of our 1972 Pontiac Catalina Convertible, it became clear that this car was not going to be a pleasure driver on a frequent basis. It was just too nice, and too rare to take the risk of damaging it.
For most of my adult life I’ve had the dream of owning another (I had one in High School) Mustang convertible. So it was decided to look around to see if a red one could be found.
I found a 2003, Red, Mustang convertible on Craigslist in Dallas. So we went to look at it. When the owner drove it up across the parking lot for us to see it, I was immediately in love! the shiny red paint, the sparkling chrome wheels, it was beautiful!
The owner said he was looking for someone who would appreciate the car and take good car of it. So, he decided he could sell it to us.
it was virtually brand new, inside and out. It had one scratch on the front bumper, but other than that it was almost perfect!
I loved throwing the top back and just enjoying the open air. I now had my dream, another Mustang.
After a season of owning it, we began to realize that the Pontiac was too much of an investment for the little amount of driving we actually did. We took a look at all of our cars and decided to change our cars out and buy a retro Thunderbird. it seemed the best compromise of a good driver, and a great retro car.
