Throughout my adulthood, I’ve always loved the sporty Mazda Miata. I drove one way back in the late 1990’s and just loved it! In the back of my mind I always wanted one.
Now that I have some fun cars, a Miata didn’t seem like it rose up to the top of the list. It’s just that other cars took precedent when it came to buying them. But one day, I was perusing through our local FaceBook Marketplace and here it was! A bright red Miata for sale. And, it was a five speed manual transmission to boot!
It was priced so cheap that I could hardly believe my eyes! So, Larry and I went out to look at it. It was somewhat rough around the edges. The paint wasn’t perfect but certainly presentable. the interior was dirty but not torn, or worn out, it just needed a good clean. The top was in acceptable condition. So, we drove it. It ran great, but there was a little hitch in it that could be fixed.
The price was so low, we had to buy it!
I got it home and discovered that the “hitch” was a loose battery hold down bolt. When that was fixed, it ran perfectly!
This little Miata is one of the finest cars I’ve ever driven! It fits my smaller frame perfectly. The five speed is a major plus for the fun factor. I throw that top down and ride through the wind. Running to town for errands, or a moderate stroll through the countryside. It’s just a great car. Super good on gas mileage, actually the best we have. Very little maintenance. How could we go wrong?
