The Cadillac – there is just something in my DNA that loves a big Cadillac! I’m sure it comes from my heart home, Aunt and Uncle having them throughout my childhood.
This one is red! They had a 1959 red DeVille Flat top, so red is it.
After having one other Cadillac, a 1996 Concours, it became clear that I had to have a red one. The 1996 never seemed right without red paint. So, here it is.
We found this car on an online sales page. It was in Abilene, TX. Certainly driving distance to go to take a look at it. The seller said that the car had been owned by an older couple originally. When they stopped driving, it was stored for 8 years. Afterwards, a family member wanted to drive it so they took it to a repair sho and told them to fix whatever needed repairs so they could put it back on the road. It had only about 135,000 miles on it.
So, after resealing the engine, fixing some of the suspension parts, and various other repairs, they spent close to $14,000 on it! That was good news to us. So, we agreed to buy it.
It’s not perfect and the paint needs some work. the interior is super clean and hardly worn at all. I believe we found our red Cadillac. It’s a dream to drive, quiet, comfortable, runs as smooth as a kitten.
We’ve had to do some repairs, a new A/C compressor, a drivers door window motor. But other than that, it’s been a good car and we drive it a lot! Well, only a couple of thousand miles a year.
